ECTs and Teach First
The routes into teaching are many and varied and at Holy Family we are committed to the training and development of beginner teachers, from a range of routes. We have a strong team of subject mentors and promote the training of willing staff into this role. The mentors provide excellent subject specific and pedagogical support to the trainees in their department.
We participate in the School Direct programme and have had trainees with us who have followed that route. Holy Family also works closely with several providers, including Kings College, Goldsmiths, UEL, IOE and Middlesex. Students from these universities train through the traditional PGCE route. We can offer the opportunity for more experienced trainees to go through the Assessment Only route.
Last academic year we appointed two students from Teach First and through the support and training given to them we have developed an excellent working relationship with Teach First, which we hope to maintain.
